Overview
Visakhapatnam: The Old Beach City
Lapped by the Bay of Bengal, on the eastern part of Andhra Pradesh lies the old beach city, Visakhapatnam. It is one of the top tourism destinations in Andhra Pradesh, with beautiful hills, caves, valleys, temples, lakes, and pristine beaches.
More often referred to as Vizag, the city was once a small fishing village. Part of the ancient Kalinga Empire, it was ruled by renowned kings such as Ashoka and Krishnadeva Raya. In the 18th century, the Dutch established a colony here. The British developed the city into a secure harbor connecting the rich mineral belt of the Central Provinces to the East Coast. Today, Vizag gracefully embraces its past and present, making it an attractive holiday destination.
