Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary
Also known as the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary, its primary objective is to protect the endangered Himalayan musk deer. It is the largest protected wildlife area in the Western Himalayas. The sanctuary is home to rare animals such as the leopard, Himalayan black bear, musk deer, barking deer, mountain goat, blue sheep, Himalayan fox, flying squirrel and numerous Himalayan birds and wildflowers. The sanctuary derives its name from the revered Kedarnath Temple, located just outside its northern boundary. Several temples associated with the Mahabharata epic are also located within the sanctuary.

TungnathTungnath
The ancient temple of Tungnath is one of the Panch Kedars — a group of temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Garhwal Himalayan region. It is the highest Shiva shrine in the world, perched at an altitude of 3,680 m. The history of this sacred temple is linked to the Pandavas, protagonists of the Mahabharata. Built in the North Indian style of architecture, the temple is surrounded by several smaller shrines. Besides its religious significance, Tungnath is also famous for trekking.

Madhyamaheshwar Temple
Located 3,265 m above sea level, this revered temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is built in the classic North Indian style of temple architecture. Surrounded by snow-clad mountains, lush alpine vegetation and dense forests, it offers a serene environment for devotees. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva is worshipped here in the form of a navel-shaped lingam.

Deoria Tal
This picturesque lake is surrounded by dense forests on all sides. The stunning reflection of the Chaukhamba Range in its clear waters is a major attraction. A paradise for bird watchers, the area is also ideal for overnight camping and forest treks. From the lake, one can view several Himalayan peaks, including Chaukhamba, Bandarpunch, Panch Kedar and Nilkantha.

Air: The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, with regular flights from Delhi.
Rail: Rishikesh is the nearest railhead, receiving trains from various tourist destinations.
Road: State-owned buses and private taxis operate frequently from Rishikesh to this hill station.
